Urban Streetscape
In recent years McGinty & O’Shea has been lucky to have diversified our traditional construction expertise through the delivery of many landmark city centre streetscape projects. As can be expected from projects undertaken in such densely populated urban commercial environments these projects present many additional constraints to our delivery teams. We have found that a very detailed approach is required in the planning and monitoring of all project management interventions to ensure the timely delivery of these projects for our clients. A particular example of this approach is evident in the supply chain management challenges presented by these projects.
Typically streetscape projects comprise high quality materials from a widely-varied number of global sources, often with significant associated lead times. Our procurement management personnel work with our project managers to ensure early identification, regular monitoring and update of the procurement status of each material item so that our construction programme can be constantly updated and reviewed to take cognisance of the supply chain through the execution and ultimate deliver of the project. As a result of this hands-on approach we have developed a very successful working arrangement with a multitude of material suppliers which span the globe.
