The  project  involved  the  realignment  of  a  section  of  the  R581  approximately 1.4km long between Doneraile and Newtwopothouse to include road pavement, linemarking and signage, utility diversions, earthworks, culverts, drainage, kerbing, traffic management, topsoiling, site clearance and all other necessary works.

Works also included the following: implementation of water management plan to enable works to proceed without negative impact on river running through the site; demolition of existing masonry culverts; diversion and supporting of existing services; implementation of traffic management plan; construction of new bridge structure consisting of precast concrete box culverts; control/diversion of river flows; construction/realignment of carriageway.
