Prostate Cancer Awareness Talk

McGinty & O’Shea Ltd. were delighted to welcome Paul Ahern and Linda O’Flaherty-Egan of the Mercy University Hospital Foundation to our site in Mahon recently for a prostate cancer awareness talk. Paul, a Urology Specialist with 20+ years experience in this sector spoke to our employees about risk factors, symptoms, prevention strategies and particularly the benefits of early detection in the battle against cancer encouraging all the lads to visit their GP and get their prostate checked.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in males in Ireland with almost 4,000 new cases every year. Most diagnoses occur in men over 50 years of age. Most cases of prostate cancer are not life threatening and many do not need any treatment. Of those cases that do need treatment most will be treated successfully when detected early.
